Our Story

1996 was a good year. That’s when we first launched Heywood Associates.

At the time, there were a small number of recruitment-to-recruitment firms out there, but not all had the same intention as we did.

We were on a mission – to change the recruitment-to-recruitment landscape.

We approached the sector having had recruitment backgrounds ourselves, spanning the professional and financial services sectors. We felt there was a desperate need to bring the professionalism we had always offered our corporate clients to the rec-to-rec sector.

We embarked on an amazing journey. We lobbied the REC to accept businesses such as ours as members when rec-to-recs were permanently excluded. We were their first R2R member.

The market needed a credible and quality service. And we were going to supply it.

Our approach to long term relationship building resonated with our clients and candidates. We were careful with whom we would work with. We believed that if we picked our clients carefully, our applicants would be happy and recommend us, and our clients would keep coming back.

That’s exactly what happened.

Heywood Associates grew to over 75 recruiters across seven offices, across the UK and the US. Our alumni have gone on to become partners in the biggest global executive search firms, and others have started their own successful recruitment business.

Over the years, the landscape changed, as did our own goals. Heywood Associates was rebranded to HR&S to provide retained search solutions at the highest levels of the staffing sectors, regularly placing recruitment CEOs, MDs, and Executive Search Partners.

But we’ve spotted another opportunity. The need for a more reliable and reputable recruiter to really deliver and build credible and long-lasting relationships. 

So, Heywood Associates is back. Sharing the same values and professionalism we always had.

He developed his recruitment career within Risk Management across the Buy and Sell Side and has an in-depth understanding of what drives successful recruitment businesses. Having enjoyed success within the financial services sector, Sam knows what good looks like, and which firms offer the best opportunities.

Josh has 8 years’ recruitment experience having worked at Robert Walters, Cedar Recruitment and Michael Page where he specialised in Finance & Accountancy and Corporate Treasury.

Josh joins the Recruitment-to-Recruitment world with a strong understanding of how businesses operate at both the FTSE level as well as owner-managed businesses.

Having a proven track record climbing the corporate ladder and leading teams, Josh knows what good looks like and is on hand to offer truly unbiased and value-added advice to candidates and clients alike.
